A MAN has been taken to hospital after his car overturned this morning.

The man, said to be in his 70s, has been taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital after colliding with a parked vehicle in Oswaldtwistle.

Police closed off Union Road and Thwaites Road after the incident outside White Ash School at around 10.30am.

A police spokeswoman said: “His injuries are not thought to be serious.

“The man, approximately in his 70s, was going to be checked over and monitored.

“He collided with a parked car and the car ended up on its side.

“He was still in the car when we arrived.

“The road is currently being reopened.”

Fire crews from Hyndburn, including two fire engines, were also called to the incident.

Tony Spencer, watch manager, said: “The person in the car had got out prior to us getting there.

“The police and ambulance helped the driver.

“The man’s vehicle had collided with another vehicle and overturned outside White Ash School.”

A spokesman for the service said: “We responded to a report of a car having overturned and it was feared a man may be trapped inside.

“Firefighters ensured there were no remaining hazards in respect of fire, fuel or oil spillages or debris.”
