SHOPPING centre bosses say plans are being made to find new tenants to replace BHS
Jobs are set to be lost at the Mill Gate Shopping Centre premises after the chain store went into liquidation.
About 11,000 jobs across the country are due to go, but administrators could not confirm the number affected in Bury.
All of BHS's 164 stores across the country are to close, but will remain open until remaining stock is sold.
It is thought this process could take up to eight weeks to complete.
Marie Gribben, centre manager at the Mill Gate, said: "Following the BHS announcement this week, we can confirm that we are looking at a variety of options to ensure that the quality of the retail offer is maintained within the shopping centre.
"We are working hard to find a suitable occupier and maintain employment within the town."
Following the announcement, the Government has said it will help staff, including those in Bury, who are facing redundancy to find new jobs.
Business Minister Anna Soubry said: “The government stands ready to support workers to find new jobs as quickly as possible."
Bury North MP David Nuttall said he is concerned about those set to lose their jobs.
"My first concern is for the thousands of employees who face an uncertain future," he said.
"The Business Secretary Sajid Javid has already announced an accelerated Insolvency Service investigation into the activity of former BHS directors and in Parliament both the Work and Pensions Select Committee and the Business Select Committee are to conduct inquiries in to the failure of the company."
