A SCHOOL which "required improvement" on its last inspection has been commended for its changes.

Emmanuel Holcombe Primary School was Ofsted inspected in September 2015 and the result of that inspection was that it needed improvement.

However, the first monitoring inspection since then has noted that the school has taken "effective action" to tackle the areas that need changing.

Inspector Joanne Olsson said: "The change in leadership has been managed well. Staff and governors are buoyant, re-energised and ready for the challenges ahead.

"The staff and the governors have set their sights towards a brighter future with renewed energy and determination. Staff morale is high. Staff are keen to contribute to Emmanuel’s future success."

The report also pointed out other successes and suggested further changes to allow the school to continue to improve.

Head Teacher, Sue Wardle, who joined the school in January 2016 said: "We are all delighted with the report as it recognises the progress the school has made since the Inspection in September 2015. Staff and governors are working extremely hard to ensure the priorities from the last inspection are being addressed. Emmanuel Holcombe is a wonderful school and we are relentless in our drive to ensure we achieve the best for everyone involved in the school."

Chair of governors Elaine Allum said: "The appointment of Mrs Wardle as our headteacher has had a wonderful impact on our school. She has brought an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious. "Our staff work incredibly hard and everyone involved with the school has the desire and drive to push the school forward as we continue on our ‘journey to excellence’.Our aim is to always ensure that our children become the best that they can be. I am very proud of our staff and pupils, and we are grateful for the continued support from our parents.’"
