Community order given to man who assaulted woman

A MAN was given a community order after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman.

Lewis Davey, 22, of Myrtle Street, was sentenced at Bury Magistrates on Friday.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting Joanne Rainford by beating her on March 19 in Bury.

He also pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive language towards the same woman on the same date.

Davey must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

A victim surcharge of £60 was imposed and costs of £85 must be paid to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A restraining order was not sought.

Man sent to prison for theft

A BURY man has been sent to prison after pleading guilty to four counts of theft.

Christian Hall, age 28, of Bolton Road, was sentenced to four weeks at Bury Magistrates because of his previous record.

All four charges related to the thefts from Tesco Express, Bury, over three days when he stole meat totalling £159 and cleaning materials.

Man lost licence after refusing to give specimen

A RADCLIFFE man has lost his licence after failing to give a specimen when driving in Bury.

Kyle Mather, 21, of Litchfield Road, was driving in Bury on May 28 when he was asked to provide a specimen and failed to do so.

At Bury Magistrates on Friday a community order was made where he was ordered to wear an electronic tag for four weeks.

He was also disqualified from driving for 36 months.

Costs of £85 must be paid to the Crown Prosecution Service and a victim surcharge of £85.

Man given curfew

A BOLTON man has been given a curfew after pleading guilty to using threatening and abusive words in Bury.

Mateusz Pielak, 25, of High View Street, pleaded guilty to the racially aggravated offence that happened on February 27.

At Bury Magistrates on Friday he was given an electronic tag which he must wear for four weeks.

Picklak was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Unlicensed driver fined

A MOTORIST who drove without a licence has appeared in court.

Mohsin Shah, aged 33, of Horne Street, Gigg. Drove an Opal Vectra in Trinity Street, Bolton, on February 9, without a licence.

He admitted the offence to Salford and Manchester magistrates last Friday and was given three penalty points and ordered to pay £131 in fines and court costs.

Man jailed for bad behaviour

BEHAVING badly on Woodfield Retail Park in Bury has landed a man in prison.

Gary Nuttall, aged 41, of no fixed address, was subject to anti-social behaviour order that had been made by Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court last November, but he went to Woodfield Retail Park and was drunk in a public place on June 14.

He admitted the offence — and breaching the ASBO — at Bury magistrates on June 15 and was jailed for four weeks.

Man banned for having no insurance

DRIVING without insurance has left a Ramsbottom man £811 out of pocket and banned from the road.

Shaun Gatenby, aged Chiltern Road, Ramsbottom, drove a Land Rover in Dundee Lane, Ramsbottom, on February 9.

A charge of driving without insurance was proved in Gatenby's absence at Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court on April 5.

At a further hearing at the same court on Monday, Gatenby was disqualified from driving six months, fined £660 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £66 victim surcharge.

Magistrates said the driving ban was obligatory due to repeat offending.

Teen admits e-cigs theft

A 14-year-old boy has been told to sign an acceptable behaviour contract for six months after breaking into a shop and stealing e-cigarettes worth £1,285.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted committing the theft on November 28 last year at Bury Youth Court last Thursday and must also pay £100 compensation to the shop at a rate of £10 per week.

Thief’s curfew

CHRISTOPHER Hough, aged 49, of Padiham Close, Bury, has been given a curfew after admitting to Bury magistrates that he stole £114 worth of meat from Marks and Spencer in Bury earlier that day.

He must stay home from 7pm to 7am daily until August 10 and pay £85 court case.

Thief handed night curfew

STEVEN Evans, aged 46, of Holden Avenue, Ramsbottom, has been given a curfew after breaking into Bargain Booze in Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom, and stealing money.

Evans admitted the offence at Bury magistrates and was in breach of a suspended sentence given on April 7.

He must repay the cash, stay home from 7pm to 7am daily until July 27 and pay £170 court costs.

Man admits smashing window

CHRISTOPHER Mathew, aged 39, of Eldon Street, Bury, admitted smashing a window at a property in Ivy Road, Bury, belonging to Six Town Housing.

He pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was ordered to pay £165 in compensation and court costs and was given a 12-month conditional discharge at Bury Magistrates court.

Driver in court

A PRESTWICH motorist has been given six penalty points after committing two driving offences.

Benjamin Howard, aged 19, of Sherbourne Court, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Clough Drive, Prestwich, on May 7 without a licence or insurance.

He admitted the offences to Salford and Manchester magistrates last Friday and was also ordered to pay £288 fines and court costs.

Man stole from Tesco

A RADCLIFFE man has been given a conditional discharge after stealing from Tesco.

Anthony Fullerton, 47, of Coronation Road, pleaded guilty to stealing coffee and candles to the value of £29.76 from Tesco, Radcliffe.

Fullerton was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Drink-driver’s 18-month ban

WALLACE Mukodza, aged 26, of Bolton Street, Ramsbottom, admitted to Bury magistrates on June 10 that he drove a Ford Ka in Heath Street, Bury, on May 21 while over the legal alcohol limit.

He was banned from driving for 18 months and was ordered to pay £365 in court costs and fines.
