SUPERJOSH founder Dawn Fidler brings you her latest blog

FINANCIAL Options has donated £500 towards my TrekFest challenge which I completed two weeks ago.

That’s an amazing £10 for each kilometre of our trek and is a huge boost to the fundraising effort.

A big thank you to Christian Pepper for this generous donation which will help towards the cost of an adapted wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

This will be given to one of our local families who are living with a child with a brain tumour, plus other children.

This vehicle will help them to travel together and have some sense of normality.

This has definitely pushed our Teamvital total above the £10,000 mark for SuperJosh and Parkinson's UK and the whole team are so grateful to everyone.

Thank you also to Heywood Rotary which has supported us through its great work during the past year.

I attended their dinner meeting last week and was overwhelmed to be presented with a cheque for £1, 500.

Some of this money will be spent giving families expenses grants to help reduce financial stress during their hospital stays.

We will also soon be presenting a hospital play package worth £500 containing crafts and play materials to Rochdale Infirmary.

It is so important to fill the gaps that the NHS can't fund, and amazing to be able to thanks to so much fantastic support.

On top of this, Rotary president Chris Kelly has signed up to run the Manchester half marathon for Josh, which is taking place in October.

Finally, thank you to our special helper Lola and everyone who took part, donated prizes and helped us raise more than £350 at The Best of Bury Golf Day last Wednesday at Walmersley Golf Club, sponsored by the team at RRG Bury. It was a great day and I know everyone had lots of fun.

On Sunday, we will be attending the Accessible Festival at Bury Athletics Track. This fantastic outdoor event opens from 1pm to 6pm, offers full access to disabled people and provides music, activities and fun for everyone.

It really is a festival with no compromise and we can’t wait!
