ELBOW lead singer Guy Garvey and I Am Kloot bassist Peter Jobson have penned a new theme song for the revival of Cold Feet, ITV have confirmed.
The collaboration, titled The Rover Returns, happened after one of the show's stars, James Nesbitt, asked the two musicians to write a song for the new series when he appeared on Chris Evans' Radio Two show.
The comedy drama followed the lives of three Manchester couples, played by original cast members Nesbitt, Robert Bathurst, Helen Baxendale, Hermione Norris, Fay Ripley and John Thomson.
The show ended with Nesbitt's character trying to come to terms with the death of his wife, played by Baxendale.
The new series is expected to pick up 13 years after the tragedy.
The show originally ran from 1997 to 2003.
Kenton Allen, the executive producer, said: "We're thrilled and flattered that these two iconic sons of Manchester wanted to write and perform an original song to mark the return of Cold Feet.
"Amazing music has always been part the show's DNA and it's great to give a nod to the rich musical heritage of Manchester with Guy and Pete's beautiful new composition."
The new series is expected to air this autumn on ITV.
