THERE were talented, pretty and lively dogs on show for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary's quarterly open day yesterday.
The Edenfield sanctuary had its annual dog show which included the handsomest dog, my dog's got talent and most waggiest tale, which was more fun than competitive.
This was held in the new dog agility area, recently opened thanks to vice president and Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson, who won £27,500 on quiz show The Chase, with a further £10,000 added by pet insurance firm Animal Friends, to improve facilities at Bleakholt.
There was a train ride, coconut shy, bouncy castle, book stalls and plenty of visitors young and old, both two legged and four legged, to Bleakholt.
The last fun day in April raised more than £10,000 for the charity which relies solely on contributions as it tries to rehome most of the dogs, cats, rabbits and small animals which come into its care, while their donkeys, horses, goats and pigs live out their lives there.
