DRINKERS were left stunned when a father-of-three rode a horse into his local pub in Radcliffe.

Mick Lavin rode into the Hare and Hounds pub, in Outwood Road, on the black and white horse on Sunday evening.

Despite not loving the animals himself, the 58-year-old jumped on the horse, Kadie, as a joke before his friend Sophie Shepherd, led the pair inside.

On a video which has gone viral, Mr Lavin can be seen being led around the pub on the four-legged-friend before heading back outside.

He said: “It was just a bit of a joke at the time, nothing was planned and I didn’t ever think it would get a reaction like this.

“Some friends were working on painting fences nearby and had come down for a drink with their horses.

“My daughters have a horse but they definitely aren’t my favourite animal after I fell off one and cracked a rib.

“For some reason I decided to jump on and have a ride around outside before I decided to go in the pub.

“Everyone was laughing. I do daft things every now and then.”

Landlord Fal Dahouchi said in his eight years at the pub he had never seen a horse come in.

Mr Dahouchi said: “We’re in quite a rural area here so a lot of the regulars have horses and a few had come down with theirs for a pint after working.

“We always see horses riding past and a lot of people stop off here with them for a drink.

“It was a laugh when Mick actually came in on the horse – there was no harm done to anyone and everyone found it funny. No one was expecting to see a horse inside the pub.

“Mick’s quite an eccentric character – he’s always making people laugh.

“We didn’t expect that it would ever go viral.”

Mr Lavin added: “My daughter saw the video and said I was mad. She was laughing saying I’m famous and it’s gone viral.

“I can’t really believe it, it was just a joke at my local.”
