POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a collision in Bury.

Shortly before 8pm on Friday, June 10, a collision involving a new style, black Vauxhall Astra and a black VW Golf occurred in Bury Old Road, Prestwich, close to Armstrong’s chip shop.

The Astra then attempted to drive off and collided with a Skoda Fabia before managing to leave the scene and head towards Manchester city centre.

At the junction of Sheepfoot Lane, it forced its way between two vehicles stationary at the lights and continued city bound.

One of the vehicles involved in that collision is described as a light coloured Toyota Corolla.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, July 14, on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and perverting the course of justice. He has been bailed until August pending further enquiries.

Police are now asking that the drivers of the cars involved in the collisions, who have not already made themselves known to police or any witnesses, to come forward to assist with enquiries.

Police Sergeant Lee Westhead from the GMP Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “These collisions happened on the same weekend as Parklife which took place nearby so we believe there will have been a number of witnesses in the area.

“The investigation team is keen to speak with the occupants of the cars who were involved in the collisions as they may hold key information.”

Anybody with information should contact the GMP Serious Collision Investigation Unit on  0161 856 4741.
