A BURY business is celebrating after being crowned Best Employer of the Year.

Exchange Utility took the award at the sixth City of Business Awards hosted by Downtown Manchester.

The awards were to celebrate Manchester's finest businesses and the local business beat big names such as Hilton, HSBC and Santander.

The company which is located in Market Street, Bury, is an energy price comparison company and they expanded earlier this year after their move to their town centre premises.

The awards were held in Manchester Cathedral and director John Baker said the family value orientated working environment had contributed to their success.

He said: " “We are delighted to win this award against such great businesses in the North West. We strongly believe that if you look after your people, your people look after your customers. This award shows the strong foundations we have built as a business and the high priority we place in the development of our employees.

“To be recognised for our efforts by a prestigious organisation is a testament to the hard-work of every employee, and the success we had so far in 2016.”

It has been a busy year for the business who doubled their workforce in the last 12 months and had Mayor Cllr Mike Connelly open up their brand new office.

They are still recruiting and have many roles available.
