TEN boys at Bury Grammar School gained all A* or A grades in their A-level subjects.

Among the top performers was Ashish Ramuni, vice-captain of school, who achieved 2A*s and 2As and will be studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) at Warwick University.

He said: “It has been a psychological and mental marathon. I didn’t think my first two exams had gone very well at all, and it really drove me to work for the rest of them.

“My reaction was really muted when I opened my results, because I just couldn’t process it. It’s only just starting to sink in.

“There are a lot of careers I could go into with PPE, but I would like to do something where I feel like I’m making a difference in people’s lives.”

Joseph Patel achieved A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, and will be fulfilling his ambition of studying Dentistry at Leeds University.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to my degree, but it will be a lot of work. I couldn’t believe it when I opened my results – I even had to get my mum to check they were right.”

Other high-scoring students were Adam Dodson, Joe Holt, Cameron Macintosh, Reese Shah, Nathan Stansfield, and Harris Choudhry.

Congratulations are also due to the 2014-15 school captain, Robert Sumner, who has been successful in his application to read Engineering at Cambridge, following a year of industry specific experience.

Louis Lisle’s A* in Art earned him a place to follow his passion at the prestigious Edinburgh College of Art.
