FAMILIES flocked to Bury Fire Station’s open day at the weekend where children learned a lesson in fire safety.

Plenty of faces showed up to the event that took place on Sunday afternoon, with attractions from fire engines to bouncy castles.

There were lots of activities for the youngsters to enjoy, as they sat behind the wheel of a police car, played games, tucked into food and drink and browsed a variety of stalls.

The ice cream van seemed very popular as temperatures soared to 19 degrees.

Paul Tyronnster tweeted: “Just want to thank Bury Fire Station for a fun open day. @manchesterfire my daughter loved it.”

A road traffic collision rescue demonstration also took place and children learnt about fire safety basics with Cracker – the service’s much-loved mascot.
