RAMSBOTTOM teenager Megan Yates was “so happy” when she arrived at St Gabriel’s RC High School in Bury on Thursday morning to receive her impressive exam results.

Megan, aged 16, got two As, a B and six Cs and is going on to study Spanish, French and theatre studies at A-level as well as an Italian GCSE at Holy Cross RC Sixth Form College, Bury.

Delighted Megan said: “I was very nervous collecting my results. When I saw them it shocked me so much.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here. The teachers have been great and I’m going to miss it a lot, but I’m all ready for college now.”

Megan said she would celebrate her success with a meal out with her friends.

Her classmate Jack Murray, aged 16, from Tottington, got one A*, six As and two Bs.

Jack said: “It’s everything I ever hoped for. I’m so pleased with how it has turned out. My mum and dad were pleased.

“I have been quite relaxed in the run up to getting my results. There’s nothing you can do after you’ve finished the exams.”

Jack will now study PE, business and politics at Holy Cross and hopes to study sports management at university and wants to work in the football business.

He added: “The school staff did well by us. They didn’t put too much pressure on us but were very supportive.”

And it was an extra-special few days for Isabella Middleton, who got her results on Thursday before turning 16 on Saturday.

The Rochdale youngster got two As and eight A*s, but said: “I was terrified before I opened the envelope. It’s two whole years of your life summed up in one day but the hard work paid off in the end.

“My mum and my grandma came with me and they are really happy.”

Isabella will now study biology, chemistry and maths at Holy Cross and may try for a career in medicine.
