A BURY-based nursery has raised more than £100,000 for charity

Mulberry Bush Nursery Group has five nurseries across Bury and has been raising money for charity since 1990.

In their most recent fundraising they raised £6,462 through their annual charity week held in May.

To raise the money, children and team members at the five nurseries in Bury, Tottington, Whitefield, Walshaw and Walmersley, all dressed in a variety of bright patterns

This year’s money was split between three charities which are all meaningful to the nursery.

The first was Blind Children UK as one of the children at the Whitefield branch of the nursery recently experienced a terrible eye infection which left her at risk of her sight being affected.

Three-year-old Isla Castle made a full recovery and the nursery wanted to recognise the fantastic work the charity does by donating some of their fundraising.

Another charity chosen by the nursery was The Good Life Orphanage in Mombasa, Kenya.

The nursery has supported the charity since 2008 and each branch provides monthly, ongoing financial support by sponsoring a child.

The third charity to benefit this year was Kicks Count, a charity which aims to empower mums with knowledge and confidence throughout their pregnancies.

The charity has helped various members of the Mulberry Bush team through difficult pregnancies and losses.

Since the nurseries started fundraising in 1990 they have raised over £100,000 for more than 50 different charities.

Nursery director Paul Robinson said: “We are very proud to support three such amazing charities who are all very meaningful for us all here at Mulberry Bush. Our children and team had a great time dressing up in a variety of patterns whilst helping those less fortunate than themselves.”

The nursery held a special cheque presentation ceremony to hand over the money to representatives from The Good Life Orphanage and Blind Children UK.
