PUPILS at Peel Brow School donned their denim for charity last Friday.

The staff and children at the school took part in Jeans for Genes Day, an annual event by a national charity that raises money for people with genetic disorders.

The children wore their jeans with their usual school shirts and jumpers and all donated £1.

Carol Parker, Year 2 teacher and member of the Senior Leadership Team, said: “This is something really close to my heart and it is absolutely brilliant to see so many people supporting the charity.”

The whole school could be seen wearing jeans, with the school chef, cleaners, teaching assistants, and teachers all embracing the day.

Head teacher Danny Mellor said: “We raised over £85 which is a brilliant effort, with families donating £1 to come wearing their jeans. We held our usual Sunshine Assembly during the morning and it was really obvious how many people were supporting the charity.

“We have recently been graded as good by Ofsted in all categories and they commented that the curriculum is enriched well with activities and this certainly shows that.”

Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorders UK, the charity that aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders.
