A RUGBY club has appealed for the return of one of their junior teams' kits after they were stolen.

The Bury RUFC kits were stolen from the car of one of the club's coaches when it was broken into in Bournville Drive, Starling, on Thursday night.

Around 10 playing shirts used by the under-eights squad, who were due to wear them in a match at Sedgley Park on Sunday, were taken.

Club officials are now pleading with whoever took them to do the right thing and return the kits to Bury Sports Club, in Radcliffe Road.

Nicola Wray, the club's child safeguarding officer, said: "One of our coaches, Mark Campbell, had picked up the kit ready to take to Sunday's game.

"They were in black kit bags, so whoever stole them must have thought there was something more valuable in there, but it was just a bunch of kids' shirts. Nothing else was stolen from the car.

"The kit is worthless to anyone besides the team and will cost us a lot of money to replace."
