BURY actress Vicky Binns has been enjoying a return to her home turf as she treads the boards for not one, but two big productions.

Best known to television audiences as Coronations Street's lovable Molly Dobbs, the former Bury College student is currently appearing in To Kill a Mockingbird at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton.

Later in the month, Vicky and her fellow cast members will then switch Harper Lee for Shakespeare as the theatre takes on The Winter's Tale to mark the 400th anniversary since the death of the bard.

She said: "I did just one show at the Octagon before today, Alfie, which was a good couple of years ago when I worked with David Thacker. I really did want to come back and I never dreamed it would be for two shows.

"Having a chance to play different parts and be involved in two such different productions but at the same theatre and so close to home is great.

"It is brilliant to be able to come home. I've done a couple of plays down in London and met family at Euston Station and dragged them around the city, so it's actually nice to come back home and see everyone without all the travelling."

The actress from Tottington first hit television screens as series regular Tash in popular children's drama Children's Ward back in 1998.

She went to star in two of Britain's most popular and long-running soaps - Emmerdale and Coronation Street - and Channel Four period drama The Mill, as well as theatre work around the UK, including touring with smash-hit musical Singin' in the Rain as Lina Lamont.

Vicky is currently performing in Mockingbird as Maudie Atkinson where she appears alongside a number of young local actors, while working on three different roles for The Winter's Tale where she has been reunited with director David Thacker and former Emmerdale co-star Amy Nuttall.

To Kill a Mockingbird is on until October 15 and The Winter's Tale will run from October 22 to November 5.
