Man admits damaging taxi

A VANDAL who damaged a taxi in Bury has been given a community order.
Curtis Carruthers, aged 28, pleaded guilty at Bury Magistrates Court to damaging a wing mirror of a taxi belonging to Majid Jahangir.
He also pleaded guilty to causing harassment, alarm or distress to Mr Jahangir in a racially aggravated attack. The Middleton Road, Radcliffe, resident was given a four-week curfew and had to pay £150 compensation.
The curfew will be in force daily from 7pm until 7am and he must wear an electronic tag.
Carruthers was also ordered to pay £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £85 victim surcharge.

Drink drive ban

A DRIVER from Ramsbottom has lost her licence after being caught over the legal drink drive limit.
Grace Moore, 18, pleaded guilty at Bury Magistrates’ Court to driving a Corsa in Peel Way with 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Moore of Kendal Road West, was fined £110 and was disqualified from driving for 17 months.
Moore was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Woman over drink-drive limit

A WOMAN from Radcliffe has lost her licence after being caught over the legal drink-drive limit.
Claire Fontaine-Downes, aged 56, pleaded guilty at Bury Magistrates Court to driving a car in Cross Lane having consumed so much alcohol that it exceeded the legal limit.
She was found to have 43 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath where the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The Bolton Road resident was fined £250.
She was also disqualified from driving for a total of 12 months.
She was also ordered by the court to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Man attacked woman twice

A MAN who attacked a woman twice in two days has been ordered to stay away from her for at least a year.
Jordan Bainbridge, aged 18, of Wooded Close, Seedfield, admitted to Bury magistrates that he assaulted the woman in Bury on August 1 and again on August 2.
He was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work, to pay her £500 compensation and to abide by the terms of a restraining order.

Man is bound over by court

A MAN has been bound over by a court.
Azaz Qureshi, aged 42, of Padiham Close, Bury, has been bound over in the sum of £100 for six months after admitting to Bury magistrates that he breached the peace in Bury on September 26.

Cannabis fine

A MAN has been sentenced after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis.
Tusif Hussain, aged 25, of Wilson Street, Pimhole, has been ordered to pay £195 in fines and court costs after admitting to Bury magistrates that he was in possession of the drug in Bury on May 23.

Drink and drug-driver given ban

A MAN has been banned from driving for 16 months after being found guilty of getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Craig Skelton, aged 39, of Hayward Street, Elton, admitted to Bury magistrates that he drove a Ford Transit Van in Bury and Bolton Road, Radcliffe, on April 21, while over the legal alcohol limit and while under the influence of cocaine Benzoylecgonine.
He also admitted to a further offence of driving without due care and attention.
Skelton must pay £355 in fines and court costs.

Race assault on woman

A MAN has been ordered to stay away from a Bury woman whom he attacked.
Dilbarg Singh, 32, of Wilton Road, Crumpsall, admitted to Bury magistrates he assaulted the woman in Bury on July 20 and used racially aggravated insulting words or behaviour that would likely cause her to fear violence would occur, on the same day.
Singh was ordered to stay away from the woman until at least March 22 and to stay home from 7pm to 7am daily until November 3.
He must also pay his victim £50 compensation and pay £170 court costs.

Man threatened to 'slice' woman 

A MAN who threatened to “slice” a Radcliffe woman has been given a 12-month restraining order.
Matthew Craig Boon, aged 31, of Bulteel Street, Wigan, admitted to Bury magistrates that he sent abusive text messages to the woman between May 17 and June 1 and made a threat to slice her. He was ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work and pay £385 court costs.

Woman was caught with knife

A WOMAN who was caught in public with a knife has been given a suspended prison sentence.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Amanda Greenacre, aged 37, of Burns Avenue, Bury, pleaded guilty to stealing meat from Asda and possessing a knife. In addition to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, Greenacre was ordered to pay £46 compensation to the supermarket.

Man admits perfume theft

SCOTT Anderson Roberts, aged 36, of Welbeck Close, Whitefield, has been given a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting to Bury magistrates that he stole perfume worth £99 from Savers in Princess Parade, Bury, on August 19.

He must also pay the shop £99 compensation and £105 court costs.

Alcohol theft

LEE Swarbrick, aged 38, of Woodward Road, Manchester, must stay home from 7pm to 7am after admitting to Bury magistrates that he stole alcohol from Morrisons in Whitefield.
