Man banned from contacting woman 

UMAR Baig, aged 31, of Knight Street, Elton, has been banned from contacting a woman for two years after he admitted to Bury magistrates that he harassed her from August 6 to August 12.

Community order for thief

A MAN who stole alcohol from Morrisons has been given a community order. Lee Swarbrick, aged 38, of Woodward Court, Manchester pleaded guilty at Bury Magistrates Court.

£500 bill for fireworks boy

A TEENAGER broke into a shop in a bid to steal fireworks.
The 15-year-old boy, who lives in Freetown and cannot be named for legal reasons, went to Bulldog Fireworks in Doctor Fold Lane, Heywood, on August 16 and trespassed with intent to steal. He admitted trespass at Bury Youth Court and was ordered to pay £500 compensation to the shop.

Attacker jailed

A MAN has been jailed for four weeks for attacking a woman.
Marlon Finneran, aged 22, of Broad Oak Lane, Fairfield, denied assaulting the woman and destroying a radio worth £5 belonging to Fairfield Hospital on July 26 to Bury magistrates and was found guilty of assaulted and criminal damage after a trial.

Cyclist fined over rear light

A CYCLIST has been fined £220 — for failing to fit a rear light on his bike.
Benjamin Howarth, aged 21, of Knowles Street, Radcliffe, rode a bicycle in Ladybridge Road, Cheadle Hulme, without the light fitted.
He was convicted of a road traffic offence at Salford Magistrates Court under the single justice procedure, but was not required to attend court to answer the charge.
As well as having to pay the fine, Howarth must pay £85 court costs and a £22 victim surcharge.

Uninsured driver fined

A MOTORIST has been fined £339 by Manchester magistrates for driving without insurance.
Paul Mort, aged 55, of Whitehead Crescent, Radcliffe, was driving a Vauxhall Combo van in Stoneclough Road, Kearsley, on July 26 when he committed the offence.
He must also pay £118 in costs and charges.

Anti-social man fined by court

A RADCLIFFE man has appeared in court after acting anti-socially at a train station.
Melford Knight, aged 33, of Britannia Close, was at Victoria Rail Station on February 19 when he behaved in a disorderly way.
He appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court and admitted one count of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause others to feel alarmed or distressed.
Knight was fined £105 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Bedding thief

TRACEY Clark, aged 45, of Ernest Street, Prestwich, has been given a two-year 
conditional discharge and ordered to pay £105 court costs after admitting to Bury magistrates that she stole £20 worth of bedding from Matalan in Bury on August 20.
