A MAN has been found dead at a flat in Prestwich.
The body of a man in his 40s was discovered by police and paramedics in Newtown Court yesterday evening.
An alarm was raised about an unconscious man in one of flats off Newtown Street just before 7pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and a police spokesperson confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and his family had been informed.
Police, ambulance and fire engines were all called to the incident.
It is believe the man was a resident living in one of the top floor flats in the complex.
Neighbour Olga Stranding, aged 73, said: “There was quite a commotion, there were 10 policemen and women all milling around.
“This is usually quite a quiet little place, people for the most part are very pleasant and are either retired or working.
“It’s an okay place to live and there are never any troubles.”
The death has been passed on to the coroner with a file being prepared to help with the investigation.
