A WOMAN who drank vodka and then crashed her car into another vehicle has been banned from the road.

Avril Rundle, aged 61, of Park Grove, Radcliffe, was almost three times over the drink-drive limit on August 25 when she drove her Kia Ceed to a shop in Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, Bury magistrates heard.

After leaving the shop, Rundle drove on the wrong side of the road and hit a Citroen C1 car travelling the other way. Nobody was injured.

She then drove off and went home.

A lorry driver who witnessed the crash noted down the registration of Rundle’s car and reported it to police, the court was told.

Police said officers went to her address and saw substantial damage to the Kia that was parked outside.

However, when they asked Rundle what had happened, she denied all knowledge of any crash before admitting her involvement.

She was breathalysed and was found to have 94 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

When interviewed by police, Rundle admitted drink driving and the cash.

She told police she had drank a substantial amount of vodka before the incident.

Rundle appeared before Bury magistrates and admitted drink driving, failing to stop at the scene of a crash and failing to report a crash.

She was banned from driving for 26 months and ordered to pay £170 court costs.

Rundle must also stay home from 6pm to 6am daily until January 7 under the terms of a curfew.
