PROTECTING children from alcohol advertising is among the issues due to be discussed at tonight’s meeting of Bury Council.

The ruling Labour group are due to bring forward a motion asking the Government to introduce a 9pm watershed for the advertising of alcohol products on TV to protect children and young people from the influence of alcohol advertising.

Also on the agenda is a Conservative motion relating to a £20 million fund to support domestic abuse victims and Liberal Democrat protests against a £170million reduction in nationwide NHS funding for community pharmacies.

Members are also due to hear an update on the work of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority, as well as the usual public question time.
