TWO brothers are gearing up for a gruelling cycle ride to raise money for a brain tumour charity.

Andrew and Neil Bebbington will peddle the 300 miles from Tower Bridge in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris in May.

With minimal kit and no guide, they hope to make it in one piece in time for Andrew’s 30th birthday.

The brothers, from Stoneclough, aim to raise two thousand pounds for the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.

The charity was set up in 2013 after Joshua Wilson from Bury reached his 13th birthday against all the odds.

He was diagnosed with a brain stem tumour aged three and after life-saving surgery to remove the tumour, he was left with serious post-operative complications.

From Christmas 2013, his mother Dawn, was told seven times in eight months, her son only had 48 hours to live. Joshua turned 14 in August of 2014 but he died in November that year.

The charity helps families with children who have similar brain tumour complications to Joshua. In its first year, £100,000 was successfully raised.

Andrew said: “What makes this charity even more remarkable is that it is based just down the road in Bury, so it’s a local charity that doesn’t get anywhere near enough media coverage which is unfortunately linked to limited funding.

"That’s why both Neil and I are committed and passionate to do all we can to raise awareness of the remarkable work that these people are doing!”
