THIEVES cut through a wall to break into a supermarket cash machine in an early morning raid in Bury.

The ATM inside the Aldi supermarket, located off Wood Street, was targeted just after 3.30am.

A gang of three wearing balaclavas used an angle grinder to cut through the brick wall and steal the cash inside.

Police are investigating the incident which was spotted by a passing delivery driver.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Kelly said: “The delivery driver saw the thieves coming from the store. All three were wearing balaclavas.

“They cut through the back wall to get to the ATM which was on the inside and open it from the back.”

It is not yet known how much money was taken from the machine.
