PATIENTS can share their views on the proposed closure of the borough’s walk-in centres as a consultation period is launched.

Last month the NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) took the controversial decision to axe Prestwich and Bury walk-in centres this year and a consultation has been launched on the redesign of urgent care services in the borough.

Residents are now invited to have their say on the proposed future model for urgent care in Bury. The consultation will last for eight weeks, coming to an end on Tuesday, April 11 at 5pm.

Health bosses confirmed the closure of both walk-in centres and revealed new proposals about how urgent care will be delivered, which is now the subject of a formal consultation.

Dr. Kiran Patel, chairman of NHS Bury CCG said: “The key themes that the CCG took from feedback in the earlier engagement phase are that patients and professionals view the current urgent care system as confusing and that patients want to get the right care from the right place at the right time. Our proposed model has already been the subject of a lively debate through extensive engagement; we took on board what we heard and are now at the point where we can consult formally. Clinically, the CCG believes that this is the right thing to do and that this model will future proof urgent care services for local people for years to come.

“We need to capture views before a formal decision is made by the CCG and I would encourage local people to have their say.”
