FIREFIGHTERS were called to Bury Town centre last night after a group of friends got trapped in a lift.
The two men and two women, believed to be in their early 20’s, were stuck for up to an hour when the lift broke down in Ribblesdale House, on the corner of The Rock and Market Street.
Trapped between the ground and first floor of the converted apartment block, they called on the Bury fire service for help at around 9pm after experiencing problems contacting the lift engineer.
Crew manager Pete Fletcher said: “They called on us as a last resort.
“We used special lift keys and isolated the lift to make it safe for them to get out.”
There were no reports of any injuries and fire fighters were on the scene for around 20 minutes.
