FIREFIGHTERS were called out when a brand new Mercedes started smoking after the owner parked it on the drive.

The crew from Bury responded to the reports of the car on fire in Burrs Close at around 4.30pm.

They arrived to find smoke pouring from the bonnet of the car.

Firemen opened the bonnet and had a look inside with a thermal image camera.

There was no sign of a fire and the crews made the vehicle safe.

It is believed the smoke was a result of an electrical issue.

The incident has been reported to Mercedes.
