SUPERJOSH founder Dawn Fidler brings you her latest blog

LAST week I told you about a wonderful donation we received, courtesy of Gill Arnott.

Instead of receiving gifts for herself for her 50th birthday, she asked her friends and family to buy presents for children, which she then donated to us.

We have now been to Ward 84, the oncology ward at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, and have passed these on they were very gratefully received.

The whole team was really blown away by the thoughtfulness of such a simple idea. It’s a great way to really make a difference, and we are so touched — thanks again to Gill for thinking of it, and everyone who contributed.

Over the Easter weekend, we had a great time being involved with The Rock’s Alice in Wonderland themed events.

The weather may have waited till everyone was back at work before perking up, but we had a blast anyway, and judging by the smiles on everyone’s faces, they did too.

We have lots still to come which is keeping us busy. Leanne McNeill and the team at the Queen Anne pub in Unsworth are hosting a new quiz night, every Tuesday from 8pm and will be raising money for SuperJosh. It promises to be a great atmosphere, with lots of great prizes, so well worth checking out.

The new Paint a Pot in Radcliffe has also announced it has chosen us as its charity, and will be kickstarting the fundraising with something a little different.

If you pop on down you can buy a raffle ticket and help decorate the giant decoupage unicorn, which is going to be a beautiful patchwork of colour.

Looking slightly further ahead, we’re already getting excited about the Forever Bury Beer Festival which starts on May 11.

Josh’s Outstanding Ale will be available, as always, and we look forward to seeing everyone again on the night.

Through our work supporting families and my own first hand experience, we know just how vitally important help and listening is to the families we support.

We now have a waiting list and are recruiting more counsellors to join our team.
