EASTER celebrations began early at two Bury nurseries, which raised £700 for the NSPCC.

Bury College Nursery and Redvales Nursery entertained families with Easter egg hunts, raffles, hook-a-duck, cake stalls and a tombola.

An impressive Mini eggs waterfall cake was a top raffle prize at Bury College, won by Lilly Partington, aged seven and the prize at Redvales was a voucher for The Entertainer toy shop in Bury, won by Leanne Baker, who gifted it to her daughter.

At Bury College Nursery, Danielle Dunkiert, mother of Bella said: "We have had a nice time today at the Easter fair, and she seems to like playing hook-a-duck.

"She has been doing all sorts today, playing outside, doing arts and crafts, games and face painting."

Gemma Corpe, Redvales Nursery deputy manager, said: "It has been a good turn out and at a good steady pace, and the children all had a great time with their families and mascot Rebecca Rabbit.

"Both nurseries are very grateful and thankful to our staff, families and the businesses who have donated their generous gifts.

"I would like to thank Millie's Cookies, Smyths Toys Superstores, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, AMF Bowling, The Body Shop, Patisserie Valerie, Howley Motors for two MOT vouchers, Build-A-Bear, Nando's, The Chinese Buffet and The Entertainer toy shop."
