THE mother of a young man who died three years ago is distraught after her son's only remaining possession was stolen.

Benjamin 'Ben' Edge died in December 2014 after he fell from a roof at work.

His mother Janet Edge has since kept a tri-axel trailer that belonged to Ben, and which was stolen from her property this afternoon.

Mrs Edge said: “It’s only a trailer, but it matters so much, because it was the only thing we had left of Ben that belonged to him.

“I feel absolutely heartbroken that it has been taken.”

Mrs Edge, who lives in Ainsworth Hall Road, said the brazen thieves smashed through locks to get to the trailer, which was parked besides riding stables at her address.

The trailer was bought by Ben approximately one year before he died as part of the 25-year-old’s plans to get his business up and running. It cost roughly £2,500.

It was passed over to twin brother Ashley after he died.

Mrs Edge added: “It’s not about the money because we’re insured, it is about what it means to me.

“It’s the last thing we have of Ben’s and I saw it every day and it reminded me of him.

"I just want it back."

Police confirmed they were called to reports of a theft of a trailer from Mrs Edge's address at 1.50pm on Thursday.

Investigations are ongoing, but anyone with any information should call police on 101.
