BURY Hospice is on the hunt for companies to show their entrepreneurial spirit while raising funds for a good cause.

The hospice, in Rochdale Old Road, is launching its ‘Corporate Challenge’ where it wants businesses to compete against each other and use their fundraising and business skills to turn £50 into as big a donation as possible.

It is looking for looking for 20 companies in Bury and the surrounding area to take part – and the Mill Gate Shopping Centre, along with Maker Industrial Ltd, have provided the £50 for each business to kick things off.

The Bury shopping centre and Maker Industrial Ltd, a Bury toll manufacturer and custom blending operation, are proud supporters of Bury Hospice and both said they want to see their money turned into thousands of pounds to help the charity provide the best services for the community of Bury.

The hospice helps people cope with life-limiting illnesses at its centre, as well as with their Hospice at Home and day care services.

The Corporate Challenge will take place over a five month period from June 5 to October 27 and the idea is to turn the initial £50 into as much as companies can – whether it’s through a cake-off, ‘fun’ jumper days, raffles – the more imaginative the better.

In turn, Bury Hospice will promote each business through its social media channel, website and newsletter and there will be a leaderboard every month to encourage competition.

“We can’t wait to see what imaginative fundraising ideas our companies come up with,” said Bury Hospice fundraiser Michelle King.

“It’s a great chance for businesses to hold fun events, help a charity and also show their entrepreneurial spirit by going head-to-head against each other – all friendly rivalry of course.

“And we are thankful to our strong supporters, the Mill Gate Shopping Centre and Maker Industrial Ltd, who have sponsored our Corporate Challenge. We couldn't do it without them.”

There will be an awards ceremony in November to announce the category winners and overall winner.
