A TEENAGER needed eight firefighters to remove a ring from his finger.
Fire crews from Bury were called to Fairfield Hospital, at 1am on Tuesday, to remove the steel ring from the 14-year-old’s middle finger after it became stuck.
Eight firefighters spent an hour using specialist equipment to remove the ring.
Watch manager Steve Wilcock said: “The boy’s finger had completely swollen like a balloon.
“He would usually wear the ring on his ring finger but moved it to his middle finger which was considerably bigger and it became stuck.
“The finger was bright red and had seriously swelled up.
“Eight firemen took turns using specialist cutting equipment from Farnworth to remove it.
“His mother was relieved once we finally got it off.
“It was the biggest steel ring I’ve seen in my life.”
