PEEL Lions Club raised £1,000 for a charity providing horse riding opportunities for the disabled. The club presented the Margaret Haes Riding Centre, in Moor Road, with a cheque at the centre’s stables. The centre provides riding opportunities for the disabled and, although based in Holcombe, supports people as far afield as Rochdale, Wigan and Bolton, as well as Bury.

The charity has helped hundreds of physically and mentally disabled children and adults enjoy the experience of riding over the West Pennine Moors. Rory McLaughlin, Peel Lions Club president, said: “I previously spent a morning at the club and was able to see the invaluable help, dedication and care given to disabled children and adults attending the pony club. Due to the work they undertake we are pleased to support the club.”
