A PRIMARY school was put on ‘lockdown’ after a claim was made on social media.

Radcliffe Hall CE Primary School was put on ‘partial lockdown’ yesterday, after a Facebook post was discovered claiming the school and Derby High School, in Bury, were on lockdown.

Police were called to investigate the post at around 11.30am and the school in Bury Street, Radcliffe, informed parents of the situation.

It was later confirmed that the post, which was published more than a year ago, was a false claim that the school was on ‘lockdown’.

A spokesman for Radcliffe Hall CE Primary School said: “We followed our procedures after the post was discovered on Facebook and contacted police.

“The school was put on partial lockdown while officers investigated.

“They confirmed there was no threat to the school and no cause for concern.

“The post was posted by someone who also mentioned Derby High School being on lockdown, however had no links or connection to either school.

“It was simply someone scaremongering and we continue to carry on as normal.”

Derby High School declined to comment on the social media post, however offered condolences on the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Rob Margolis, headteacher at the school said: "The Derby High School was extremely saddened by the events of Monday night.

"We have offered and continue to offer support to our school community.

"We continue to run school effectively during this difficult time."
