MEET the football stars of the future!

Bury Grammar School Boys have just had one of their most successful football seasons in the school's history.

In May, the BGSB Under 16s team won the national ISFA Cup at the England Training Camp in Burton, and last week the U14s football team lifted the ESFA trophy in front of live cameras at Derby County's Pride Park stadium.

The BGSB team beat St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School 4-3 in the final of the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) Boys Under 14 PlayStation Small Schools’ Trophy.

The match, played in the 33,000-plus seated stadium, was streamed live in HD on the Playstation Schools Cup video channel.

A Sam Bird hat-trick helped BGSB, who beat Lord Derby Academy, Buile Hill High School, Stretford Grammar School, Blue Coat School, Our Lady’s RC High School and Winterton Community Academy on their way to the final, lift the trophy.

Chris Windsor, PE and Games Teacher at BGSB, said: "We played amazing football but the opposition were just as good. We were thinking there could be a goal every five minutes, so it could have gone either way. It's an amazing experience that the boys will take with them in life and hopefully become even better players and people because of it."

The season then finished with a fabulous finale when BGSB U12s won the Bury Cup final against St Monica’s RC High School.

Bury Grammar School Boys’ U12s football team were crowned Bury Cup champions after victory over St Monica's RC High School on Thursday.

BGSB fought back from 2-0 down at half time with goals from Kairo Fellone (2) and Joe Critchley forcing the game to penalties as it finished 3-3 at the end of extra time.

Goalkeeper Archie Knight was the hero in the shootout as BGSG added to their U14s and U16s cup final successes.
