A 34-year-old man has died after being in collision with a tram in Manchester city centre.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 9.40pm last night.
Officers were called to the Metrolink stop near to the GMEX Centre after a tram driver reported that his vehicle had been in collision with someone on the tracks.
The tram had been travelling city bound between Cornbrook and the GMEX The body of a man was discovered on the tracks.
Trams were prevented from accessing the area for about four hours but the lines have now reopened.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage.
Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously or walking along the line around this time is asked to call police on 0161 856 3540
