THE SUNNY weather is set to come to an abrupt end with heavy and thundery showers predicted for tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain to run from 3am tomorrow until 6am on Thursday.

The bouts of rain are expected to be heavy and thundery.

The rain will move in from the west and will affect southern Scotland and northern England including the Bolton area.

More extensive thunderstorms may then break out over a large part of England and Wales from late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night, leading to torrential downpours, frequent lighting and a chance of hail.

The Met Office is predicted some disruption, most likely from Wednesday afternoon, including a chance of localised flooding and disruption to power supplies due to lighting.

However, the Met Office has said that many places will see little or no impact and will enjoy dry and sunny weather throughout Wednesday.
