A DEDICATED support centre for cancer patients and their families is reopening after its Bury home was devastated by flooding.

Bury Cancer Support Centre is inviting people to join its open day at the Bolton Road centre, from noon until 8pm today.

The centre was flooded on New Year’s Eve and thousands of pounds worth of damage to equipment and a collapsed ceiling meant that the centre has been out of bounds and unable to operate.

Jeff Green, chairman of the board of trustees, said: “We would like to invite people to drop in any time between noon and 8pm to see our fabulously newly refurbished centre.

“The official opening ceremony will take place at 1pm.

“Staff will be available throughout the day to show people around and answer questions.”

The service has been operating from Bolton Road Methodist Church, while refurbishment work was carried out.
