A GANG of yobs in Whitefield appear to attack a taxi driver, luring him down a dead-end street before one of them jumps on top of the vehicle's windscreen, as others pelt rocks.

Driver dashcam footage of the incident - which happened at around 4pm on Tuesday in Whitefield - shows one boy running up the bonnet and windscreen of the vehicle as others hurl rocks at the windows.

The driver can be seen desperately trying to get away, attempting a three-point turn in the road as stones continue to hit his car.

It is understood that the group of youths had called the taxi to Victoria Avenue from a withheld number before ambushing the vehicle close to Whitefield Community Primary School.

As the taxi approaches, approximately half a dozen boys dressed in dark-coloured tracksuits - believed to be in their early teens - are seen stood waiting near a gate to Oxbow Way.

One boy – wearing a blue hooded jacket – then walks up to the car after it pulls up before jumping onto the bonnet and running across the roof.

The other boys then start to throw stones at the vehicle.

The video was posted on the Spotted:Whitefield Facebook page. The post read: “Does anyone recognise these gentlemen? Freeze frames have been put in intentionally to try and see their beautiful faces.

“This is the cut through between Victoria estate and Waterdale estate. Near to Whitefield CP."

The video is said to have been handed over to police.
