RAMSBOTTOM teenager Ryan Salter set his sights on Oxbridge when he was just a primary school pupil.
Now, the 18 year-old prodigy has won his place to read maths at the University of Oxford.
The Holy Cross student, who achieved four A*s and one A at A-level, said: “It is amazing and a big relief to finally be going.
“I have always wanted to go to Oxford or Cambridge since a young age.
“Oxford is a brilliant university and hopefully studying there will give me the opportunity to do whatever I want afterwards.
“It is also a really nice city and I have friends who are already there.”
He said there was a lot of pressure with the new A-level exams, which meant students had to sit all their exams at the end of two years.
Previously, students have been able to contribute to their overall mark with AS-levels at the end of first year.
He thanked teachers Martin Doxsey and Jenny Green for all their help with maths and physics, but also with preparing for the rigorous Oxford interview.
