AN event has taken place to celebrate multiculturalism and different faiths.

Collabor8, hosted by Bury College, invited people across Bury to enjoy live entertainment, presentations and interactive stalls.

The event was delivered by Greater Manchester Police and aimed to bring society together, providing an opportunity to celebrate rich diversity.

Amongst the community groups who attended the event were Early Break Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Stop Hate UK. Representatives from these groups were on hand to issue information about their services as well deliver an exciting range of activities.

PC Tim Heap kicked off the day’s events with a round of introductions from the Madame Mayor of Bury and councillors. This followed with a balloon release which allowed visors to pay their respects for the victims of the Manchester attack.

Superintendent Rick Jackson said, “We are delighted to celebrate the second Collabor8 event and champion the rich diversity across Bury. I think it is especially important that this event is bringing together a young age group and is an opportunity to shape the future generation.”

Collabor8 is part of a long-term strategy to continue to link together the wider communities of Bury.
