THE organisers of the Head for the Hills festival have dismissed rumours that it will be moving site in 2018.

The event, formerly known as Ramsbottom Festival, is currently held at Ramsbottom Cricket Club and has gone from strength to strength since it started in 2011.

This year’s event saw 12,000 people flock from far and wide to watch over 50 acts play across five live music stages.

However, limitations to the size of the venue, and the recent name change, led to talk that a move two miles south to Burrs Country Park may be on the cards next year.

But, David Agnew, artistic director at the Met, who organise the event, said there is no substance to the rumours.

“We are happy with the cricket ground and are in discussions to hold the festival there again next year. It works really well for us and them,” he said.

Mr Agnew confirmed that the three-day festival will again take place in the third weekend of September next year, with early bird tickets expected to go on release in the coming weeks.

He said that the team behind Head for The Hills were delighted with the success of this year’s event, which was headlined by Maximo Park, Beth Orton and the Stranglers.

“We had a really great weekend blessed with great weather and our biggest ever crowd on a Sunday with 4,000 people,” said Mr Agnew.

“We have also managed to make some great new partnerships with the likes of Scruff of the Neck, Blueprint Studios and Republic Management.

“Year-on-year we have great feedback on the quality of production and the attentiveness of audiences.”
