A SCHOOL in Radcliffe that ‘required improvement’ by OFSTED has been told that his done just that after its most recent inspection.

St Mary’s RC Primary School, in Belgrave Street, which was most recently inspected on July 5, was awarded a good rating in all aspects this time around, including one outstanding score in personal development.

A previous inspection in May 2015 stated that the school needed to improve in most aspects.

The most recent report published said: “This is a good school where school leaders and governors have acted decisively to provide a clear direction for the school. This has led to improvements in all aspects of the school’s work.”

The report added that governors have greatly strengthened their role in providing effective support since the last inspection and that they now have a clear understanding of pupils’ progress.

It also stated that the school has robust safeguarding procedures and that regular and appropriate training for staff is undertaken.

Quality of teaching, provision for the early years and outcomes for pupils were also rated as good.

In personal development, behaviour and welfare, the school was rated outstanding.

The report said: “The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare and the behaviour of pupils is outstanding.

“Pupils are kind and caring and make an excellent contribution to school life.”
