FRIDAY is Bury Hospice’s Wear Yellow to Work Day.

And as part of the Bury Times’s We’re Backing Bury Hospice Campaign, we are encouraging workers across the borough to paint the town yellow and make a £1 donation in order to raise awareness of this fantastic service.

This can range from painting your nails, wearing wellies or another yellow item of clothing, or even going all out and decking yourself in yellow from head-to-toe. The choice is yours!

Hospice fundraiser Michelle King said: “Yellow is the colour of the hospice movement and its symbol is a sunflower so we want people to be as bright, vivid and brash as possible.

“We would like the community to use the yellow theme in their fundraising around Bury to help us raise awareness as well as vital funds for the hospice, which is important to the people who need us in the town and surrounding areas.”

Send your pictures in to thomas.george@nqnw.co.uk and we will feature them on our website.

This month, the hospice have also been encouraging people to take a yelfie — a selfie featuring something yellow.

Supporters are asked to tag the hospice’s social media sites in any yelfies and donate a small sum of money by texting YELF13 and the amount to 70070.

To get help organising your fundraising event, call the hospice on 0161 797 1748, extension 216, or visit buryhospice.org.uk.
