AN investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted at a bus station.

The vulnerable 37-year-old woman was waiting for a bus at Bury Interchange when the incident occurred.

A man waited until the station was quiet at around 9pm before sexually assaulting his victim.

Police said the woman was thankfully able to flee from the man to a busier area of the station, where she then caught a bus and got away.

CCTV images have been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with the assault, on Friday, October 27.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Barker of GMP's Bury borough said: "This incident left a vulnerable woman who was standing alone absolutely terrified and we are doing all we can to find the man responsible.

"As part of our enquiries we are keen to speak to the man pictured in these CCTV images.

"If you recognise this man, or even if you believe it to be yourself, then I would ask that you contact police immediately."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8181 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
