ONE of Bury's MPs was rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pains during a constituency surgery.

James Frith, MP for Bury North was taken to Fairfield General Hospital after he suffered chest pains while meeting his constituents.

In an upbeat post on his Facebook page the MP said: "So this wasn’t in the plans... during a constituency surgery today I was taken ill with chest pains.

"I feel fine but In the mean time, I’m experiencing first hand our brilliant NHS and thankful for it. The meaning of life can suddenly sharpen in focus can’t it! ?? Xx"

Mr Frith became Bury North MP earlier this year after beating Conservative candidate David Nuttall in June.
