A CAR was on fire in one of Bury's terraced streets just minutes before New Year.
It is believed the vehicle was deliberately set alight in Rake Street, off Walmersley Road.
Firefighters from Bury were called to the incident at 11.45pm on New Year's Eve.
Crew manager Gavin Doyle said: "The rear end of the vehicle including the boot was on fire.
"It appeared to have been deliberately ignited by unknown persons.
"We used a hose reel to put the fire out. There were no other vehicles nearby.
"We were unable to trace the car's owners at the time. It will be a write off."
