MORE than 1,000 vulnerable children were given a gift to remember thanks to a charity's generous campaign.

Children across Radcliffe and Bury received up to three Christmas gifts as a result of a children's charity's efforts.

Radcliffe-based Frost Foundation handed out presents to more than seven organisations across the borough, ensuring that dozens of children in desperate need were not disappointed on Christmas morning.

The charity also donated more than 100 food hampers to families living in distress.

Charity manager Wendy Veevers said: "We support children across Greater Manchester who may be disabled and need a specialist piece of equipment, or autistic children who need some sensory equipment at home, or other children who need support and slip through the net."

Supporters donated presents, which the Frost Foundation then matched, ensuring that each child had between two and three gifts to open.

Causes that benefitted from the donations included Radcliffe Children's Centre Hub, Bury Council's social services group, the Oasis Team, families known to New Life Church in Radcliffe, and Barnardos.

Gifts were also distributed via Bolton Lads and Girls Club and Fortalice, which organises the town's refuge and support for women and children escaping domestic abuse.

Year-round, the Frost Foundation supports children across the North West, who are disadvantaged by illness, circumstance or poverty by donating items such as wheelchairs, buggies and other pieces of equipment.
