A NURSERY that felt like a 'second home' to families has closed down after 14 years.

Cleverclogs Nursery, based in Radcliffe, has shut its doors, parents confirm.

It is understood that its owners are moving out of the area and were unable to find new management to take over the running of the site in Victoria Street.

Margi Nelder, whose two daughters attended the nursery, said: "It was their last day today.

"The management is moving away and they have been trying so so hard for months to find a replacement but unfortunately haven't been successful.

"There just wasn’t enough time."

Daughter Bella, aged 2, had been attending Cleverclogs for two months, while three-year-old Elizabeth had been there for just over one year.

Families were given formal notice of the closure in writing one week ago.

A letter sent to parents said the nursery would close its operations on Friday, February 2.

Miss Nelder, aged 24, said: "It was a brilliant nursery. It was just like one big family. The staff met every child’s individual needs.

"My children adored it. They treated it like a second home.

"The nursery staff family will be sadly missed and we wish the best for them."

It is understood five members of staff were employed by Cleverclogs.

Other nurseries in the area expressed their sadness on hearing that the site was closing.

Cleverclogs Nursery has been approached for comment.
