ALL bin collection in Bolton have been cancelled today, March 1, because of 'unsafe' conditions for crews battling the icy weather.

Some collections were also missed on Tuesday and Wednesday as snow showers hit Bolton during the 'Beast from the East' and Storm Emma.

Town hall bosses say that residents who have not had their grey waste bin collected will have to wait a full week, but usual collections will continue in the week after that.

A council spokesman said: "Due to the adverse weather conditions all bin collections have been cancelled for the rest of today.

"Our crews have been out making efforts today to empty bins but conditions are freezing and becoming unsafe.

"Please note if your grey bin has been missed on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday this week please present it for collection next week on your usual collection day and normal collections will still take place the week after.

"If your recycling bins, green bins or food waste containers were missed then please take them back onto your property and they will be emptied on the next scheduled recycling collection.

"We will continue to keep you posted with any updates."
